The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened a meeting on Thursday with aggrieved governorship aspirants in a bid to foster unity ahead of the November 21 off-cycle election.
During the meeting, which took place at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the NWC engaged with aspirants who had raised concerns about the primary election conducted last weekend.
The election, overseen by a team led by Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, declared Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner with 48,569 votes in the direct primary exercise, defeating 15 other aspirants.

Some of the aggrieved aspirants, including Olugbenga Edema, Omoba Jimmy Odimayo, and Adewale Akinterinwa, alleged irregularities in the primary election process.
In his address at the meeting, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed gratitude to the aspirants for attending the meeting promptly despite the emotional distress caused by the recent primary.
Ganduje emphasized the need to focus on unity and appealed to the aspirants to look beyond the current challenges, stating, “If we dwell on that, then it will lead to what we call ‘too much analysis leads to paralysis.'”
Ganduje highlighted the dual role of party members as both insiders and outsiders, emphasizing the party’s interest in maintaining its position as the ruling party in Ondo State.
He urged the aspirants to remain committed to the party’s success, citing his personal experience of contesting for governorship in 1999 and eventually becoming a governor after 16 years of perseverance.
The meeting concluded with a call for unity and cooperation among party members to ensure the APC’s victory in the upcoming election, with Ganduje reassuring the aspirants of their potential for future success within the party.
