Even though All Progressives Congress (APC) finally captured Ondo State three years ago, the governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has been soaked in lots of crisis that are threatening his bid for second term.
What aggravated the whole thing was the events of the recent elections, when APC lost the Presidential poll, 2 senatorial and 5 House of Representative seats to other parties. Some APC members feel Rotimi Akeredolu’s anti-party activities was the cause of this and he was also accused of giving other candidates cash to contest on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA) just to piss the APC hierarchy off.
An NWC member, who preferred to remain anonymous, recently confirmed that Governor Akeredolu was suspended by APC, which is identical to the punishment given to Imo and Ogun state.
His words, “Yes, the NWC suspended the governor. He claimed not to have seen the query and we asked the National Vice Chairman from the Southwest to make a copy available to him.
“After election, we want to build and not destroy the house. But we want to do the needful. Since we suspended the Imo and Ogun States governors, we want to treat them equally. However, they need to defend themselves. It is like a query and a suspension. They have to advance reasons why they did what they did…”
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, has also begged the people not to read insincere meanings from the friendship between Akeredolu and Tunji Abayomi, the AA North Senatorial District candidate.
His words, “Our governor is a party man. Whatever has happened and whatever happens thereafter will all be resolved at party level. There is nothing to lose sleep about. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu remains a party member, a party leader. Nothing has changed.”
