The All Progressives Congress, APC, has won all chairmanship and councillorship positions in the 27 Local Government Areas of Borno State.
Chairman of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission, BOSEC, Dr. Tahir Shettima, announced the results on Monday while briefing journalists at the commission’s headquarters in Maiduguri.

Dr. Shettima said the local government elections were conducted peacefully across the state and in line with the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
He commended participating political parties and stakeholders, including security agencies, civil society organisations, journalists and the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Borno State, for their roles in ensuring the successful conduct of the exercise.
The BOSEC chairman also lauded Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his commitment to deepening democracy at the grassroots, noting that the governor provided the necessary support and resources for the conduct of the elections.
Dr. Shettima urged the newly elected chairmen and councillors to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering quality representation and dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.
InfoStride News recalls that Governor Zulum, while casting his vote on Saturday in his hometown of Mafa, had expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious.
The governor had described Borno as an APC stronghold, insisting that no other party would claim victory in the state, even in the 2027 general elections.
The newly elected local government officials are expected to be sworn in at a later date.
