The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the local government elections held on Saturday in Anambra State.
The BoT, led by the party’s founder and pioneer National Chairman, Chief Chekwas Okorie, extended congratulations to all winners in the polls.
In a statement released on Monday, Okorie commended the leadership of the party for its efforts in securing the victory, particularly praising the National Chairman, Chief Edozie Njoku, for spearheading a rigorous campaign that resulted in APGA sweeping all chairmanship and councillorship seats.
“I doff my hat to the National Chairman, Chief Edozie Njoku, who led from the front, guiding our candidates through a rigorous campaign that culminated in this overwhelming victory,” Okorie said.
He described the election victory as a solid foundation for the party’s future success, particularly in the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship election slated for November 2025.
Okorie also called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to swiftly swear in the elected chairmen and councillors, in line with the constitution and electoral laws.
“I urge Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, to proceed without delay to swear into office the duly elected chairmen and councillors, who were sponsored by APGA under the leadership of Chief Edozie Njoku, in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, and the Electoral Act,” Okorie stated.
He emphasised that Governor Soludo has a chance to demonstrate his loyalty to the party and adherence to the rule of law by promptly inaugurating the winners.
“Governor Soludo should seize this opportunity to demonstrate his loyalty to the party, which is supreme, as well as his commitment to upholding the rule of law, as mandated by his oath of office.
This is the path of honour for the governor,” he added.
The election results have further solidified APGA’s dominance in Anambra State as the party looks ahead to future electoral contests.
