The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has explained that its endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections was based on party policy and conviction.
APGA National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, made this known on Friday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Show.
According to him, the decision was not taken arbitrarily but was guided by a long-standing party policy and the belief that Tinubu is steering the country in the right direction.

“Well, I think there are a lot of thinking that went into that policy. Like I always say, it is a policy, or it is a decision that was fuelled by both policy and conviction,” Ezeokenwa said.
He explained that the policy dates back to 2010-2011, when APGA adopted the presidential candidacy of then President Goodluck Jonathan.
“This is what was started some years ago, precisely in 2010-2011, when the party deemed it fit at that point to adopt the presidential candidacy of the then president Goodluck Jonathan.
“The party has not steered away from that particular policy. That policy is still intact,” he stated.
On the issue of conviction, Ezeokenwa said the party believes Tinubu’s economic and political reforms align with APGA’s progressive agenda.
“The party believes that the president is steering the country in the right direction.
“Given the needed reforms that the president has orchestrated, which probably align with the progressive agenda of APGA, it is in the best interest of the party for the party to adopt the candidacy of President Bola Tinubu,” he added.
APGA had on Wednesday formally endorsed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
