CHICAGO, IL–(Marketwired – Jan 29, 2014) – APICS, the leading association for supply chain and operations management, is simplifying the process that enables Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designees to maintain their certifications.
APICS certifications demonstrate the highest level of professional excellence in the industry, and designees are sought after by employers worldwide. Those holding APICS certification must maintain their credentials every five years to verify that their knowledge and skills are current. In 2014, APICS is offering a simplified certification maintenance process to make it easier for designees to report the continuing education activities that keep their certifications up to date.
An improved online maintenance program makes it easier for those with current CPIM and CSCP certification to maintain their status. The new online system requires less detail and provides immediate notification of auditing or maintenance status. In addition, designees can apply for maintenance at any time during the five-year period.
Also newly available, for a limited time, is the CPIM recertification exam. Those with suspended or expired CPIM designations can take the recertification exam to reinstate their CPIM certification. Historically, APICS has required a series of five exams to recertify, but from February to December 2014 this can be accomplished by successfully completing a single three-hour exam.
In the summer of 2014, APICS will introduce an online verification system that provides the ability to confirm an individual’s CPIM and CSCP certification status.
“We’re making it as easy as possible to maintain CPIM and CSCP credentials. Maintaining certification is important because it ensures our designees continue to have validated skills that are sought after by employers,” said Abe Eshkenazi, APICS Chief Executive Officer. “These improvements help those holding CPIM and CSCP designations to stay current and protect the value of the credentials for those who have earned them.”
More than 100,000 industry professionals around the world have earned CPIM designation, which demonstrates mastery of essential terminology, concepts and strategies related to supply chain and operations management. CSCP certification is held by more than15,000 professionals in 77 countries and shows that a professional has attained the highest levels of knowledge and organizational skills for end to end supply chain management.
