In a recent development, the Appeal Court in Lagos has upheld the triumph of Ugochuckwu Collins Iheonunekwu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the duly elected representative for the Isiala Ngwa North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The court unequivocally dismissed the appeal presented by Innocent Uruakpa of the Labour Party (LP), asserting that his pleas lacked merit.
Additionally, the Appeal Court affirmed the victory of Chijioke Uruakpa (PDP) as the legitimate representative for the Ugwunagbo constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.

The court endorsed the tribunal’s decision, which had earlier rejected the petitions of Iheanacho Wabara of the Labour Party, citing the petitioner’s failure to substantiate the case.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Abia State House of Assembly, Destiny Nwagwu of the Labour Party (LP), faced removal by the Appeal Court due to the inability to demonstrate his membership in the party before the March 18 elections.
The three-man panel ruled that Nwagwu’s nomination was invalid, declaring him unqualified to contest the election. Consequently, the court proclaimed PDP’s Aaron Uzodike as the duly elected representative for the Aba North constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
Expressing dissatisfaction, the ousted LP legislator, Destiny Nwagwu, led a protest, denouncing the ruling as the epitome of injustice.
