The election of APC federal lawmaker, a former speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, was challenged by Honourable Tijani Damisa. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has asked Honourable Abdullahi Bello, a member of the House of Representative representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to vacate the seat at the federal hallowed chamber.
In its verdict in the appeal put forward by Damisa, the court ruled that election be conducted in Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency within 90 days, Vanguard reports.
The court also barred the lawmaker from participating in the rerun election.
Meanwhile, Honourable Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has spoken-up in dismissal of the outrageous claims that members of the lower House are paid N18m as salary.
Dogara defended the House vehemently, saying that the accusation was joke.
He stressed that it was in no way possible to earn a salary way above the allocated funds for the House of Reps.
According to the report, the average Nigerian Senator earns N12, 939, 549 while, an average Nigerian Reps member earns at least N9, 740, 310.
Also in another development, Honourable Friday Osanebi, the deputy speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, has reiterated that he did not collect any money meant for Ndokwa youths from the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) as alleged by a socio-political group, Coalition of Ndokwa Youth Leaders.
