Troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have recorded significant successes in their recent operations against insurgency and criminal elements across the country.
According to the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, who briefed newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, the operations led to the neutralization of 94 terrorists and the apprehension of 214 suspects, including kidnappers and oil thieves, in the past week.
Rescue of Hostages and Recovery of Weapons
In addition to the arrests and neutralization of suspects, the armed forces also rescued 29 hostages and recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.

The recovered items included 168 assorted weapons and 2,757 assorted ammunition, marking a significant blow to the capabilities of the criminal elements.
Surrender of Boko Haram and ISWAP Members
In the North East, a total of 168 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, along with their families, comprising 11 adult males, 65 adult females, and 92 children, surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations between January 17 and 24.
This surrender represents a notable development in the ongoing efforts to address insurgency in the region.
Operations Hadin Kai’s Successes
The troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the North East neutralized 27 terrorists, arrested four suspects, and recovered 22 AK47 rifles and one Vektor R4 rifle, among other items.
The air component also conducted successful air interdictions on terrorists’ hideouts and movements of gun trucks in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, disrupting their activities and causing significant damage to their infrastructure.
Operations Safe Haven in the North Central
In the North Central region, troops of Operation Safe Haven arrested suspected violent extremists and insurgents, foiling Fulani militia attacks on locals in Mangu, Bokkos, and Wase Local Government Areas of Plateau State during the week. These operations are crucial in maintaining peace and security in the region.
