Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the rumours suggesting he has made contact with Real Madrid over the availability of Alvaro Morata are false, according to the Guardian.
.
Speculation has been rife in recent days concerning reports that suggest Arsenal were close to securing a deal for the highly-rated Spanish starlet , but Wenger has moved to virtually rule out the possibility.
.
The acquisition of a new frontman is thought to be Arsenal’s priority this month and a number of names have risen to prominence in connection with the Gunners.
.
These include Real Madrid duo Karim Benzema and Morata, with the north London outfit previously said to have approached the Spanish giants over a proposed £2million loan deal for for the latter.
.
However Wenger has revealed that he is more concerned with his current charges rather than claims suggesting he is about to sign foreign stars.
.
“We are not in talks, with Real about anybody,” Wenger stated this morning.
.
“I do not want to speak about any specific names. for us it is important to prepare well for Monday night and to win the game on Monday night. The people who are in the newspapers do not help us to win the game on Monday night. It is the players who play here.”
.
It remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal will dip into the market to boost their chances of sustaining their title tilt for the remainder of the campaign, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely that business will be conducted between themselves and Real Madrid this month.
