Arsenal are set to end the deadlock over Denis Suarez by meeting Barcelona’s asking price.
The two clubs have been in discussions since the start of the month but negotiations hit a road block over the nature of the deal.
Arsenal have been looking at loan deals due to budgetary restrictions while Barcelona want to cash in because Suarez is out of contract at the end of next season.
But, according to reports, the Gunners have relented and decided to secure a permanent transfer.
The Premier League giants will reportedly stump up the €16m (£14.2m) that Barcelona are demanding.
Suarez is eager to quit the Nou Camp because of a lack of minutes on the pitch.
The 25-year-old fancies a move to the Emirates Stadium because of his previous experience playing for Unai Emery.
He enjoyed a season-long loan deal at Sevilla under Emery in the 2014/15 campaign – chipping in with six goals and five assists in 46 appearances.
It was previously reported that the Arsenal boss and Suarez have struck an agreement over the move.
According to reports, Gunners transfer chiefs will find the cash to sign Suarez by ditching Mesut Ozil.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly in pole position to secure the German’s signature.
Despite being a fringe man for Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona are reluctant to lose Suarez ahead of the run in.
And Valverde has indicated he is in no rush to see the once-capped Spain international leave.
