The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has approved the composition of his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The campaign structure, announced on Thursday by Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, places Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman of the council and former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as deputy chairman.
Senator Austin Akobundu was appointed Director-General and Campaign Manager, with responsibility for coordinating the campaign’s activities and implementing its strategy.
The council will operate through six major directorates headed by Deputy Directors-General and supported by directors assigned specific responsibilities.
Former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, was named chairman of the Campaign Advisory Board, while Lawal Batagarawa will serve as deputy chairman and Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as secretary.
Other members of the advisory board include Senator Ireti Kingibe and Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed.
The policy team will be chaired by Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, with Professor Mohammed Sagagi as deputy chairman. Other members include Professor Kingsley Moghalu, Professor Mustapha Akinkunmi and Senator Abdul Ningi, while Aare Aremijoye will serve as secretary.
Former governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Emeka Ihedioha are among the senior campaign advisers, alongside Adamu Maina Waziri, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Senator Felix Ogunwale and Senator Patricia Akwashiki.
In the Media and Communications Directorate, publisher Dele Momodu was appointed Deputy Director-General, while Phrank Shaibu will oversee strategic communications and Kola Ologbondiyan will head media and publicity.
Ladan Salihu will be responsible for branding, while Moji Rhodes-Vivour will lead digital and online media. Kenneth Okonkwo, Keturah King, Nana Kazaure, Uche Diala and Dahiru Maishanu were listed as campaign spokespersons.
Former senator Dino Melaye was named Deputy Director-General of the Contact and Mobilisation Directorate. Other officials in the directorate will handle mandate protection, women mobilisation, persons with disabilities, stakeholder engagement and youth mobilisation.
Salihu Tanko Yakasai will head the Diversity and Support Groups Directorate, while Lauretta Onochie will oversee the Technical and Systems Directorate.
The Operations Directorate will be headed by Chief Ralph Nwosu, while Yusuf Suleiman will lead the Administration Directorate. The structure also includes officials responsible for research, legal services, finance, logistics, security, election operations, voter intelligence and monitoring.
Atiku, according to Shaibu, said the campaign structure was designed around issues affecting Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity and declining purchasing power.
The campaign council is expected to coordinate Atiku’s nationwide activities and mobilisation as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
