A 43-year-old man, Francis Essien, on Friday appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly being in possession and circulation of fake currency to buy newspaper from a vendor. The police charged Essien, who resides in Ogunnike, St., Lekki Lagos State with one count of issuance of fake currency. The prosecution counsel, Insp. Stripe is reported to have acquired Nigerian payments start-up Paystack for an undisclosed sum in its biggest acquisition to date. The company, founded by Limerick-born brothers Patrick and John Collison a decade ago, previously led an $8 million Series A funding round for Paystack two years ago. Bandits killed eight persons and injured three others in Faskari Council of Katsina State at the weekend. Six were killed in Shau Village and two in Ruwan Godiya community.
