I am an adopted ‘Lagos boy’, a self-styled ‘Buharist’, a fan of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and a believer in the notion that the APC is the best thing to happen to Nigeria since the discovery of the revered Agege Bread. I am also a shrewd student of international politics. This is why I believe that it is necessary to comment on a picture that is making the rounds in the national dailies and on online platforms that shows President Muhammadu Buhari, flanked by Tinubu, and Chief Bisi Akande, a former interim-Chairman of…

On the 5th of September when I wrote my article titled “Before Governor Ayade Appoints his Cabinet”. The Governor after reading the article said to me ” Tom, don’t have little faith”. Listening to the Governor’s 100 days in office speech on Tuesday, and his commitment in putting smiles on the faces of Cross Riverians, has reawakened my faith and believe in the Governor Ayade led administration. During the interview of the Governor he made mention that the green police was going to be a permanent job for Cross Riverians. Looking at the poverty level in the State and the…

When executives who have held positions in the government transfer to private sector business, they bring with them knowledge and experience they have acquired over time. This quickly becomes very valuable to private business enterprises. These executives understand the incentives, the needs and goals of both sectors and are able to apply this knowledge to any position they undertake. This kind of manager who has worked in more than one sector is rare. He can help address challenges in the private sector like: Training workers effectively and efficiently to be more productive Putting programs into place to help control things…
“Let me assure you that if I am elected President… we will always act on time and not allow problems to irresponsibly fester.” This statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Chattam House before the election, has been grossly misunderstood by a number of highly expectant Nigerians. So much, that even when he reiterated that Nigerians should not expect miracles or magic, some still assume a Genie has come into power. As individuals occupying the office of the citizen, if we had done a good job in the first hundred days to passively observe the President we elected, we…

Recently I have received phone calls and messages from all over the globe from concerned Cross Riverians asking me when Governor Ayade is going to appoint his cabinet. Some have even started nailing Governor Ayade by wagging their tongues with so much abuses and name calling. I do not blame them because they are actually concern about the growth and development of their State. Before Governor Ayade appoints his cabinet he must understand that the love and support the People of the State showered on him immediately he won his party’s ticket and up to the time of winning his elections…
Recently i read reports on national dailies on a research carried out by the National Medical Association where the Association posited that Nigeria losses over 250 billion naira on medical tourism yearly. That is a huge sum of money leaving our shores to foreign nations. Monies that can be in circulation in our economy. Improving the living condition of our People and making life a better place for our People but rather it is carted to foreign countries as medical tourism otherwise known as medical check up. According to the wikipedia; Medical Tourism is a form of health tourism commonly referring…
As we approach 100 Days of this APC-led dispensation, it is important to recount the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration so far, and the actions taken by the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who has been working in tandem with President Muhammed Buhari’s reformation agenda, and the APC’s ‘Roadmap to a New Nigeria.’ For starters, poor power supply, which has been a hindrance to foreign investors sinking money into Nigeria’s economy has received a major boost during the first 100 days of Buhari’s administration. Surprisingly, somehow, with just the…
Since the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29th, 2015, the need to have appointed ministers running the affairs of Nigeria’s federal ministries, and the eagerness to know who will make Buhari’s executive line-up has haunted Nigerians. According to Chapter 6, section 147, subsection 1 of the Nigerian Constitution, it is mandatory for the President to appoint ministers. However, the Constitution does not specify a time that this appointment must be carried out. During his four-day bilateral visit to Washington, D.C, in the United States, President Buhari told newsmen that he will be appointing ministers by September. Although…
Arriving the ancient village of Kakum, in Obudu Local Government Area, all i saw was the rich, poor, old and young in Saint Theresa’s Little Flower Catholic Church coming to thank God over the victory and achievements of the State Governor, Senator Prof. Benedict Ayade. Seeing the huge cheers i wasn’t surprised because Governor Ayade is a man who has won the heart of the People of the State. Prof. Benedict Ayade is a delightful humanist, seasoned educationist, erudite scholar, pragmatic realistic, prodigious legislator and an intelligentsia par excellence whose life has been devoted to serving humanity and eradicating poverty…
And whenever you ask my brothers from the South-West why they wanted Goodluck Jonathan out of power, one of the reasons they give was the almost total sideline of the region in federal appointments. The euphoria and the optimism that heralded the new APC government was one to remember. I can remember many of them shouting “Igba otun ti de fun Yoruba”. In fact some others were already doing permutations as regards the Yoruba sons and daughters that would feature prominently in PMB’s cabinet. Not a few were saying in loud whispers “Fashola is the new SGF”. Elections are over;…
I am writing this post with a lot of caution and trepidation. I have never subscribed to ethnic chauvinism, and I actually detest being labelled as a tribal bigot. I am usually very careful because I have friends and colleagues from every part of the nation, and some of my best friends are not even from my side of the country. However, recent events are making me to have a DEEPER REFLECTION, and I wish we, Southerners, in this instance – can have some kind of introspection. Out of 25 appointments made so far, 18 are from the North, 3…
