Unidentified persons on Monday attacked officials of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee, Kano State chapter. The Public Relations Officer of the committee, Alhaji Ja’afar Bello, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano. He said that the incident happened at 1:30 pm when the committee was holding a meeting. The Ogun Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Mr Ayo Kolawole, said the bureau had paid over N1.7 billion as monthly pensions to retired local government workers between January and September, 2013. Kolawole said this in Abeokuta on Monday while receiving members of the Ogun House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who were on oversight visit. He said the payment also included retired primary school teaching and non-teaching staff.
