Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare has an unexpected and, in some ways, welcome problem ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match away to Everton. Having taken over in late February with the reigning champions sliding towards relegation, Shakespeare finds himself five league games and five wins later pondering the possibility of resting players at Goodison Park to protect them for a huge occasion next week. With captain Wes Morgan already set to miss the first leg of Leicester’s inaugural Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday with a back injury, Shakespeare is considering leaving out other key players on Merseyside.…

Cheikhou Kouyate boosted West Ham United’s survival bid as the Senegal midfielder fired his side to a crucial 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Swansea City on Saturday. Kouyate’s second-half strike at the London Stadium lifted Slaven Bilic’s team eight points clear of the Premier League relegation zone. After losing their last five matches, West Ham’s first win in eight games was perfectly timed and should go a long way to ensuring the east Londoners avoid the drop. For Swansea, a fourth defeat in their last five games leaves them facing a nerve-shredding final few weeks of the season. Paul Clement’s…
Sergio Aguero struck as Manchester City ended a four-match run without a Premier League win by beating Hull City 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Ahmed Elhmohamady’s own-goal, just after the half-hour mark, gave Pep Guardiola’s team a lead at the interval, before they pressed home their advantage. Aguero squeezed in a second goal three minutes after half-time, set up by Raheem Sterling, who also created the third with a short pass that Fabian Delph thumped in for his first league goal of the season. Hull pulled one back late on through Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia, with a shot…
Real Madrid face a defensive crisis ahead of huge clashes against Bayern Munich and Barcelona after Pepe suffered a double rib fracture in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. Pepe opened the scoring with a towering header seven minutes into the second half but then had to be replaced after clashing with teammate Toni Kroos. “He has been diagnosed with a fracture in the seventh and eighth left ribs,” Madrid said in a statement. The Portuguese defender is expected to be sidelined for up to a month. Madrid are already set to miss central defender Raphael Varane for the rest…
Radamel Falcao marked his first start in six weeks with the only goal of the game as Monaco cemented their position at the top of Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win at Angers. Falcao’s goal came just after the hour mark and against the run of play, and Monaco were holding on at the end against in-form opponents at the Stade Raymond Kopa. The result extended the principality side’s run without defeat in the league to 13 matches and moved them four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand on Nice, who won 2-1…

Rihanna worked with the brand’s co-president and creative director Caroline Scheufele to create a 9-piece collection of Haute Joaillerie and Joaillerie which will debut this summer at the Cannes Film Festival to not only celebrate the 70th anniversary of the festival, but also…

Manchester City were comfortable 3-1 winners over Hull on Saturday afternoon, putting an end to a run of four Premier League games without a victory. They had few problems dispatching the visitors and gave the fans an entertaining performance at the Etihad, too. Positives After a few weeks of poor results — and with both Arsenal and Manchester United creeping up the table toward City in fourth place — Pep Guardiola’s team were able to get back on track. City’s play was excellent at times, too. Negatives It’s now seven goals conceded by Claudio Bravo from the past seven shots…
On paper, this seemed to be the match that Tottenham were most likely to take lightly out of their remaining fixtures — and Watford made life difficult for half an hour. However, Dele Alli’s sublime 33rd-minute opener opened the floodgates and Spurs’ array of in-form offensive players put their side 4-0 up before the 55th minute. This was the North Londoners’ 14th consecutive domestic victory at White Hart Lane and Mauricio Pochettino’s side clearly have little intention of letting Chelsea stroll over the line. Positives In the past Tottenham have looked over-reliant on Harry Kane for goals, but when their…
Never has the expression “a game of two halves” been more apt than in Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Stoke on Saturday. The Reds were dreadful in the opening 45 minutes but dazzled after the break to come from behind and record what could be a pivotal win in their chase for a top-four spot. Positives Turning the game around when it looked to be headed the same way as so many of Liverpool’s other away days since the turn of the year. That’s the biggest positive because a defeat would have done serious — perhaps irreparable — damage to Liverpool’s…
