Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Sunday visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State. They met at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Penthouse residence of the former leader. A statement by spokesman Kehinde Akinyemi said Tambuwal arrived at about 1:30 pm with some of his key aides. The governor and his host ended the parley at about 2:40 pm, where national issues were discussed. Obasanjo had his lunch with his guest who later prayed at the mosque inside OOPL before leaving the premises.

Former Rivers South East senator, Magnus Abe, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State. Senator Abe emerged on Saturday after a fresh governorship primaries was conducted in Port Harcourt. The fresh primaries followed the withdrawal of the former SDP candidate Maurice Pronem from the race. Abe pulled 30 delegate votes to emerge unopposed in the contest.
