Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has fixed the conduct of elections in the 20 Local Governments and 35 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, in the state for July 24, 2021, as clearly stated by the 1999 Nigerian Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Jigawa State Independent Electoral commission JISIEC has fixed the 26th of June 2021 for the conduct of Local Government elections. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed concerns over the level of violence and destruction of property that has characterised some of the congresses conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
