The Plateau State Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, has said two churches were on Monday set ablaze by angry persons protesting bomb explosion at a mosque Sunday night in Jos. The police boss made the disclosure Monday evening at the police headquarters in Jos, the state capital. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a bailout for Nigerian states, many of which have not been able to pay workers salaries for months. According to Vanguard sources, President Buhari approved a three-pronged relief package including sharing of fresh allocations, granting of soft loans and restructuring of states’ debt-servicing payments. The packages are expected to go into effect this week. About $2.1b (N413.7bn) will be shared in fresh allocation between the states and the federal government. The police paraded suspects in the Ikorodu bank robbery, yesterday. The Kaduna State Police Command, on Monday said it had arraigned 115 street gang members, locally known as “Yan Sara-Suka” for allegedly terrorising communities in the state.
