The President of Nigeria Inter-Africa Committee on Campaigns against Harmful Traditional Practices against Women and Girls, Modupe Onadeko, has said that 60 per cent of families in Oyo State still engage in female private part mutilation. She made the disclosure in an interview in Ibadan on Tuesday. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised registered voters yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to use the opportunity offered by rescheduled election dates to collect their cards. The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr Kayode Idowu, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday. The Bauchi State government has restated its commitment to complete all projects embarked upon before the end of the present administration’s tenure. The State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Salisu Barau, who stated this yesterday while briefing journalists in Bauchi, said majority of projects initiated by the Isa Yuguda administration had been completed while those that are yet to be completed have reached advanced stages. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the postponement of the 2015 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, saying its effect on the economy cannot be over stated.
