In a bid to ensure free and fair elections in 2015, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega has redeployed the 37 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), with immediate effect. The RECs have been directed to “conclude all handing and taking over formalities” by December 31, 2014. The INEC chairman made this known in a statement announcing the redeployment, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Augusta C. Ogakwu. The All Progressives Congress has accused the Federal Government of trying to suppress the audit report on the alleged missing $20bn oil money. The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ebonyi, Mr Raphael Igwenagu, on Saturday said the agency has secured 70 convictions in the state in 2014.
