A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have been killed by the Boko Haram sect in troubled Borno state. The pastor, Taiwo Dokun was killed in the insurgents attack on Dille village in Askira-Uba local government area of the state on Monday. Police Command in Nasarawa State on Friday said it arrested 22 people in Lafia following violent protest by some groups over the impeachment notice served on Gov. Umaru Al-Makura. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ibrahim Idris, confirmed the arrest at the news briefing on behalf of the state joint security committee. Idris said that no life was lost but two persons sustained injuries and were in hospitalised in Lafia. Boko Haram gunmen killed many people in an attack on the town of Damboa in Borno State, throwing explosives into residential homes and shooting dead civilians who tried to surrender, an official said Friday. “The insurgents attacked the town from 6:30pm (1730 GMT) on Thursday to the early hours of today,” said the official in Damboa’s local government who requested anonymity. “They killed many people. The drivers of articulated vehicles parking indiscriminately on Apapa roads, as well as the Apapa/Oshodi expressway, on Thursday agreed to vacate the roads within 48 hours. The drivers consented to the agreement at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, at Apapa. They agreed at the meeting to relocate their trucks to the various trailer parks in and around Lagos. NDLEA CHAIRMAN, AHMADU GIADE Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ahmadu Giade, has expressed concern over the danger increased drug trafficking and abuse pose to the nation. He said the agency in 2013 alone, seized 339, 968 kilogrammes of illicit drugs with a street value of N3.4 billion. He stated that the agency also identified and shut down six methamphetamine production laboratories and arrested 13 suspects in connection with the laboratories. The Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has ordered the scrapping of the Special Projects and Programmes Unit (SPPU) under the Government House. The directive was contained in a press release signed by Solomon Kumangar, director, press and public affairs, Government House, Yola. The acting governor also directed the head of service to retrieve all government property in the custody of the unit with immediate effect. Nyako is accused by Acting Governor Umaru Fintiri of plunging the state into a N6billion debt.
