Security Forces operating in the nation’s capital have nabbed a man, who specializes in creating panic by sending out text messages threatening attack by Boko Haram insurgents. The suspect, Ugwu Lawrence, who was tracked by security operatives after dispatching text messages of impending bombings of some hotels in Abuja, confessed to the crime. HISBAH The Hisbah Board in Kano State has secured the conviction of 55 persons for the consumption of alcohol during Ramadan. The sale and consumption of alcohol in Kano State is prohibited in accordance with Sharia. The Director-General, Abba Sufi, told reporters yesterday in Kano that the convicts were apprehended last week, following raids of their hideouts. Sufi said they were sentenced to four months imprisonment without an option of fine. A breakdown of the convicts, according to him, indicates that 50 of them are married men; while the remaining are women.
