The Sokoto State Government said on Friday that it had earmarked N175 million for Ramadan feeding programme The Commissioner of Religious Affairs in the state, Alhaji Tukur Alkali, disclosed this in an interview in Sokoto. Some lawyers in Lagos on Friday hailed the recommendation by the National Conference delegates in Abuja to punish corrupt public officers with life imprisonment. The lawyers told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that such a punishment would reduce corruption in the country. The remains of Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola, were buried in his home in Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday amid tears by family members, friends and associates. Medical services have resumed at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba, reports have said, as doctors and other workers yesterday suspended their strike action. The health workers under the auspices of Joint House unions and the Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, LUTH branch, had embarked on an indefinite strike since June 2 to press home their demands. An Abuja Federal High Court on Thursday restrained the National Assembly from proceeding with its proposed probe of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. The House of Representatives had summoned the minister to appear before its committee investigating her alleged spending of N10 billion on a chartered aircraft.
