The United States (US) Navy, under its Project Handclasp, on Tuesday donated materials worth $2.6 million (about N416 million) to three Nigerian Charity organisations. The materials, which were delivered at the Apapa Port by US Naval Services Spearhead (USNS), included personal mobility handcarts, wheel chairs and medical supplies. The benefiting charity organisations were Hope for Independent Living Initiative, Assemblies of God and Deseret International Charity Vision. Capt. The combined average capacity utilisation of Nigeria’s four refineries has been estimated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to be 25.95 percent for the month of December 2013. According to data from the NNPC’s December 2013 Monthly Petroleum Information, this is a significant improvement from the 6.46 per cent average capacity utilisation of the refineries in November 2013, and a slight decline from the 30.87 per cent utilisation year on year to December 2012.
