Boko Haram: Security Agencies Need The Support Of Well-Meaning Nigerians To Succeed – CAN

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Federal Capital Territory, FCT chapter, Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, has called on all Nigerians irrespective of religious beliefs to give the necessary support to the security agencies in the ongoing efforts against terrorism in the country.

Akanji said curtailing the security threat in society was beyond what the security operatives could handle by themselves, therefore, all hands must be on deck.

The CAN Chairman was reacting to Monday morning’s bomb explosion at a motor park in Nyanya, Abuja, by suspected Boko Haram members.

The clergyman pleaded with all well-meaning Nigerians to be more conscious of their environments and report suspicious movements to security operatives.

He said, “Well, as we can see, what is on ground is beyond security operatives alone. Every Nigerian has to be part of helping the security agencies to do their work.

“They need a lot of information. In the various place where we are, when we see strange people or strange things happening, we should report immediately; everybody should be security conscious, and that is the only way we can help our nation.

“As you can see, it happened in a most unexpected place, a place that people have always parked freely, have their daily movement. Nobody was suspecting anything. I believe that everybody should be security conscious”.

Akanji also appealed to those behind the heinous acts to desist from the waste of human lives saying they would not benefit anything from killing innocent people.

He described those behind the killings as selfish people, who would not escape God’s judgment no matter how long they run.

“The perpetrators of this evil should desist from it, they should cease from this, there is nothing they are benefitting by killing innocent people, who are just going about their daily affairs.

“They are actually selfish people who are doing this; they are thinking about their own self-interest, and they are not caring about the innocent people going to their various places of work from their homes. I think they should desist, they should allow the law of conscience that God has put to everybody to talk to them.

“And those who are perpetrating this should know that even if they run away from men, God is going to catch up with them”, he said.
