Bafana Bafana defeated a spirited Milano FC 1-0 in a practice match as part of preparations for the Orange CAF African Nations Championship (South Africa 2014) on Tuesday, 7 January.
Striker Bernard Parker scored from the penalty spot after fellow striker Katlego Mashego was fouled by the Milano goalkeeper.
The match was played in four segments of 30 minutes each and was played at Phillipi Stadium just outside Cape Town.
”For me the result was not important but I am very happy with the exercise. It was important to play this match, as I wanted to try out different combinations and also blood in new players so they can understand our system. It was good to get a game under our belt and give all the players a run especially because we haven’t played in three months as a team,” said Igesund.
Milano FC campaigns in the National First Division.
On Wednesday (8 January) Bafana Bafana will have their training session at AFC Clyde Pinelands grounds in Pinelands from 11h00.
