Bandits have abducted 22 locals in separate attacks in the Kugauta and Kitanda communities of Kumana Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
According to sources, the attacks took place on Friday night at approximately 10:30 pm, with the bandits targeting both communities.
The Twelve people were abducted from the Kitanda community in Geshere, while ten others were taken from Kugauta in Kusheka.

The victims, mostly women and children, were forcibly taken away by the bandits.
Despite the increasing wave of kidnappings and criminal activity in the area, it was reported that only three police officers were seen in the community and nearby villages.
The source highlighted that the region has been plagued by continuous terrorist attacks, resulting in the deaths and abductions of villagers on a near-daily basis.
Many locals have been forced to flee their homes due to the escalating violence.
“Over N60 million has been paid in ransom, and many people are still in the kidnappers’ custody.
The police presence here is insufficient to secure the villages, and we appeal to the government to send more security personnel to help address the situation,” said the source.
In addition to the security challenges, residents are also facing significant infrastructural deficits, including poor road networks, inadequate healthcare, and a lack of schools.
Locals struggle to transport farm produce to markets due to the poor condition of the roads.
Attempts to contact DSP Mansir Hassan, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, for comment were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered.
