The Bauchi State Government has banned processions in the state.
This was disclosed via a statement released by Secretary to the State Government, Bello Shehu Ilelah.
The statement reads:
“This is to inform the general public that arising from some security situations available to Bauchi State Government, it has become imperative to impose a ban on all public gatherings and processions in the state with immediate effect.”
“All security agencies are hereby directed to ensure strict compliance with this directive.”
The order is believed to be in reaction to the recent clash between Shiites and police officers in Kano State.
The incident, which left many dead, was caused by a police attempt to stop a Shiite procession.
The Borno state government has also banned processions in the state.
