All Progressives Congress, APC, elders in Bayelsa State have condemned Israel Sunny-Goli, a former federal legislator, over his recent attacks on the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Sunny-Goli, a former congressman for the Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, was quoted by Infostride News on Thursday as saying that the APC candidate and ex-Minister of State for petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, cannot win the upcoming gubernatorial election.
A group calling themselves the Bayelsa APC Elders Council said that during Sunny-Goli’s so-called world press conference against the State leader of the party, the former lawmaker, who was unable to win re-election to the House of Representatives due to his incompetence, showed the utmost ingratitude and betrayal.

After Sunny-Goli botched his chance to return to the National Assembly, the elders council issued a statement in Yenagoa written by their Chairman, Chief Michael Adomokeme, questioning why Sunny-Goli would take his fury out on his leader and sponsor.
They reminded Sunny-Goli that Sylva was the driving force behind his ascension through the political ranks, from special adviser to state assemblyman to congressman.
The wise men predicted that Sunny-Goli would come to regret biting the hand that had nourished him for so long.
“We are puzzled that Israel Sunny-Goli has chosen the path of infamy,” they reportedly remarked. He ought to be feeling sad about the landslide defeat at the hands of an elderly woman.
It is his constitutionally protected right to vote for whatever he wants, and we respect that. Travesty exists when one bites the hand that feeds them. With Sylva’s help, he was able to become a representative in the South Australian Legislative Assembly, the New South Wales Parliament, and the Commonwealth House of Representatives. In what other ways might people be helped?
We will not tolerate his repeated demonstrations of juvenile superiority over our future Governor and leader, Chief Timipre Sylva.
His election results, particularly in his unit and ward, show that he has lost political savvy. Now, he appears to be suffering a mental breakdown.
A statement from the party read: “We urge members of our party and well meaning Bayelsans to be jubilant as the era of oppression, cluelessness, and make-shift governance will come to an end before Christmas this year.”
