(VP Office Reports) A top brass delegation from Bayelsa State led by Governor Seriake Dickson has commended Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo for his total and unwavering support and loyalty to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The visit which held at the Office of the Vice President in the State House, Abuja on Thursday January 30, 2014 had in the delegation prominent Bayelsa indigenes including former Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha; members of the State Executive Council; members of the State House of Assembly; members of PDP in the State; members of the National Assembly from the State; the traditional rulers in the State among several others.
The Vice President while expressing fulfillment for the visit assured them of his unflinching loyalty to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, noting that the confidence he receives from the President spurs him to do even more.
“I want to assure you that I will personally continue to give my full support and loyalty to the President. I also assure you that we will not allow anything to detract us. The Transformation Agenda of President Jonathan is well on track. We are happy to note that today; we have achieved a lot within this short period of over two years. We have achieved what several administrations were not able to achieve,” he remarked.
He added that Government will continue to work in the interest of Nigeria as patriotic Nigerians and to ensure the deliver of the dividends of democracy to Nigerians. He further informed the delegation about some of the projects being executed by the Federal Government in the State, including: the Brass Natural Gas Project and the Ship Building Yard promoted by NIMASA, saying the State is to become the first ship building state in West Africa.
The Vice President added that the Federal Government is supporting the State in the construction of an Airport and several other projects towards creating wealth and jobs to the people of Bayelsa State and Nigerians as a whole. He also commended the Governor for his people – oriented projects, expressing delight for her support to the Transformation Agenda.
Namadi Sambo revered to making Bayelsa State a second home when he retires from service, promising to teach Architecture in the Federal University of Otuoke.
“I want to assure you that we will continue to support you and work in the inertest of this country. The time has come that we need to put our hands together. We need to cooperate to ensure that we succeed in this endeavour of living peacefully, cooperating and being our brothers’ keeper,” Sambo iterated.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson disclosed that they were in the State House to express the unanimous appreciation of all the good people of Bayelsa State to the Vice President for his commitment, selfless dedication and transparent loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan.
While urging the President and the Vice not to be detracted, he said that the Presidency is one that is united and committed to delivering the dividends of democracy without rancour or division, being poised to take Nigeria to higher glory.
He further expressed appreciation to the Vice President for his transparent, proven and verifiable loyalty in the course of his work and support to the president. He indicated that in the course of his service to the people of Nigeria which is what he was called upon to do, the Government and good people of Bayelsa State, represented and back home did convey heartfelt appreciation to him and the Nigerian President.
“We are here because we consider you to be one of us. We are here because we admire what you are doing, supporting quietly and loyally, never complaining as everybody knows how smooth the presidency runs. We know that with the two of you working as you are doing, with you giving support as you have been known to be giving, we know that the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government will succeed and is already succeeding. Nigerians will continue to reap the dividends of what you people are doing at the federal level,” he remarked.
In his brief talk, the Minister of Niger – Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe also intimated the delegation of the projects being executed by his Ministry, mentioning the East-West Road which he said would be completed in December, 2014 and nine skill acquisition centres to be commissioned in March, 2014.
