“I would want to applaud all of the candidates for running for office in Bayelsa for their involvement in the election that has just come to a close, as well as for their drive and enthusiasm to serve the people of Bayelsa. Although one candidate may emerge victorious, this does not mean that the other has been vanquished.
“This is a win for all the people of Bayelsa. I strongly encourage all parties involved to prioritize the interests of the state before their own personal and political agendas. At this point, we have no choice but to come together and do everything in our power to make Bayelsa a better place.
“Most revered Governor, I believe that your re-election will help our cherished Bayelsa State continue to go forward while maintaining its integrity.
“Finally, I would like to issue a call to the electoral umpire and other stakeholders, asking them to take seriously the issues that have been raised by the off-cycle elections, and to work toward the improvement of the electoral system and the continued viability of democracy in our country’s government.”
