The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, on Thursday, December 17, dismissed as false, claims by some politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he had withdrawn from the inconclusive governorship election in the state.
Sylva described the claim as an act of desperation by the PDP in their fear of imminent defeat.
The APC governorship candidate said members of the PDP who were spreading fabrications about his withdrawal from the suspended governorship election, were engaging in a futile attempt to save their principal, Governor Seriake Dickson, from sure and imminent defeat.
Sylva, who spoke through his media adviser, Mr. Doifie Buokoribo, yesterday, therefore, advised the PDP candidate and incumbent governor to stop dissipating energy on falsehood, hypocrisy, and deceit.
“Dickson should wait for the outcome of the governorship election and try to control his outbursts of fear and deceit, which cannot sway any Bayelsan, as the people already know better.
“The falsehood about Sylva’s withdrawal from the governorship race that Dickson had tried to mar with his uncivilised vituperations and open call for violence is part of the same strategy of deceit and violence, which he and the PDP had employed since the beginning of the election process.
“In lie after lie, which we have roundly exposed, Dickson has shown that he has nothing other than deception to offer the people of Bayelsa State in the on-going election. This latest chicanery about Sylva’s withdrawal, like the others before it, will not give Dickson any reprieve from the sure and imminent defeat awaiting him”, the statement by Buokoribo read. [APC]
