Jupp Heynckes has denied Bayern Munich are eyeing a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom.
Heynckes also dismissed recent speculation linking them with a move for the 21-year-old Brazilian.
“I have never seen him play,” Heynckes said at a news conference. “Such players are often touted around like this, but I don’t think he’s a topic [of interest]. Our scouts will probably see it similarly.”
Bayern were pitted against Sevilla in the Champions League draw, and Heynckes warned against underestimating the club, who are fifth in La Liga — 27 points behind leaders Barcelona.
“Sevilla are a very good team who played excellently to beat Manchester United,” Heynckes said. “It’s a difficult draw. You only find top teams in the last eight of the Champions League and Sevilla rightly belongs to that group.
“They won the Europa League three years in succession [from 2014 through 2016] and are an absolute top team. They play creative football and are much more defensively stable after changing their coach. We’ll be fully focused heading into the two games. They have some top-quality players. The atmosphere in Sevilla will be similar to Istanbul — the fans are equally fanatical and very passionate.”
“There were no jubilant celebrations, but it’s a tie we believe we can win,” goalkeeper Sven Ulreich said after the draw. “It won’t be easy but Sevilla are perceived to be easier opponents in comparison to the rest we could have drawn.”
