Bayern Munich considered appointing Jurgen Klopp as manager in 2008, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said. He recently revealed that the Liverpool boss was the first choice for Bayern 13 years ago, before Jurgen Klinsmann was eventually appointed.

According to him, Uli was in talks with Klopp at the time, but a decision was reached and Klinsmann was considered the man the club needed.
Karl added that he was partly responsible for bringing Jürgen Klinsmann on as a coach, but it ended up being a wrong decision for both parties.
His words, “I was partly responsible for bringing Jürgen Klinsmann on as a coach. Unfortunately, that didn’t work,”
“That was also due to FC Bayern, but it just didn’t work. I’m very sorry. It wasn’t a good decision for both parties.”
“Uli was in talks with Klopp at the time. We had to make a swift decision and then we agreed to get Jurgen.”
