Bayern Munich regained their 10-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a comfortable 4-1 win in Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.
Franck Ribery, Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben were all on the scoresheet for the defending champions, who maintained their healthy advantage over second-placed RB Leipzig in the title race.
Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro scored the goal of the match for the visitors, but it was scant consolation in a defeat which leaves them fourth in the league, although Hoffenheim’s loss at Hamburg earlier on Saturday means they are still just one point off an automatic Champions League place.
Bayern, who were beaten at Hoffenheim on Tuesday, were 2-0 up within 10 minutes against their big rivals Dortmund. Ribery fired home Philipp Lahm’s cut-back from the byline before Lewandowski’s free kick beat Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki with ease.
Guerreiro pulled a goal back for Dortmund on 20 minutes with a fearsome strike from range that hit the roof of the net, but Bayern remained the team on top.
Robben forced a save from Burki after a trademark cut inside from the right in the run-up to half-time, but he was not to be denied with a similar move soon after the restart that gave Burki no chance.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a chance to cut the lead again but Jerome Boateng cleared off the line, and less than a minute later Bayern had a penalty when Burki hauled down Lewandowski was through on goal. The keeper only received a yellow card, but Lewandowksi stroked home the spot kick to put the gloss on the result.
