The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, has dismissed rumours on social media that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ortom described the reports as, “false, malicious, mischievous, and a campaign of calumny”.
The Media aide to the governorship candidate, Terhav Agerzua, in a terse statement on Friday said it was a false alert and part of the plans by Ortom’s detractors to smear his good name. He added that the report was one in a series of other orchestrated smear reports.
According to Agerzua, “Ortom has not been arrested by the EFCC or any agency. He is undergoing documentation in Abuja as APC Benue State governorship candidate and will return soon to the state to resume campaigns”.
