Lil Wayne is back with “Vizine,” an introspective, head-bobbing cut from a music/shoe partnership with clothing brand Ethika.
Weezy is one of many rappers on Ethika’s RGB Mixtape 2, the follow-up to the first tape that came out in February 2017 and featured Meek Mill, Lil Durk, 21 Savage and others. Each song comes with an artist’s signature pair of Ethika sneakers.
“Vizine” — along with Lil Skies and Rich the Kid’s “Creepin” — is among the first peeks at this year’s mixtape, and so far it delivers. On the follow-up cut to January’s Dedication 6: Reloaded, Wayne gets personal, opening with the question and declaration of “Why me?,” continuing by asking, “Why can’t I trust what I see?”
Along with some of the more raw lyrics about himself, it seems Wayne also potentially added a shot at Birdman, saying, “No one man should have all that power if he can’t afford to pay the light bills.” The line may be a nod to the apparent recent foreclosure on Birdman’s multimillion-dollar Miami mansion. The two, who once had a father-son relationship, have been in a complex legal battle, which stems from Wayne’s claims over withheld payments from 2014’s Tha Carter V.
