Bishop Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese has called upon President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the fight against corruption and insecurity, emphasizing that mere palliatives will not suffice to solve Nigeria’s deep-rooted problems.
In his 2023 Christmas sermon, Bishop Kukah highlighted the pervasive culture of corruption as a fundamental issue undermining governance in Nigeria.
He stressed the need for tangible evidence of progress, stating that Nigerians are weary of empty promises.

Addressing President Tinubu, Bishop Kukah urged decisive action to cleanse the public service of corrupt individuals who have tarnished the opportunity to serve. He emphasized the importance of this “surgery” to enable the government to deliver essential services effectively.
The cleric also expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and abductions across the country, describing them as “senseless” and calling for urgent measures to halt the bloodshed and restore the sanctity of life.
Bishop Kukah’s remarks resonate amidst widespread concerns about governance, security, and the welfare of Nigerians, as the country looks towards a new era under President Tinubu’s leadership.
