    2015-election

A bomb explosion has been reported at the Women Training Center, Primary School Polling Unit 1, New Layout, Enugu this morning.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scampered for safety, Channels TV reports. The bombs were planted in a Honda Accord Car and parked behind the WTC primary school by unknown persons awaiting the commencement of voting.

The state police Commissioner, Dan Bature confirmed the incident. According to him, police anti-bomb squad was drafted to the scene and was able to successfully detonate a second explosive found in the premises.

“Three bombs were found in a Honda Accord car with registration. Number KUJ 971 ABJ,” Vanguard quoted him to have said.

“One of the bombs exploded while we have just successfully detonated two. It was an Improvised Explosive Device,IED. We do not know who plant it.

“We are working assiduously to unravel the identity of the suspects. The suspects abandoned the car at the entrance gate. We are working to get the area safe.”

Reports, however, say that the situation has been normalized. But other sources dismissed there was a blast.

See, I’m close to the area. Nothing of the sort happened.”
