Ibrahim Idris has said that the remaining Dapchi girl, Leah Sharibu, who was not released because she refused to convert to Islam, is on her way back home.
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on Saturday, March 24, confirmed that Sharibu’s release is imminent.
He stated this an interview with journalists at the Military Command and Control Center in Maiduguri where he visited the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole.
“As of 3pm, we heard that they were 20 kilometres from Dapchi,” a resident who pleaded anonymity was quoted as saying.
Another source said; “The news that they are bringing back the girl was received with mixed feelings. Some people are jubilating but many have abandoned their homes out of fear. There is confusion as I speak to you. What if they decide to abduct more people. Those guys are lunatics.”
On February 19, 2018, the girls were abducted from their school, Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC) Dapchi, in Yobe state.
