Borussia Dortmund have placed a £63million price tag on Liverpool transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Bundesliga club’s chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke has stated they will ignore any offers under that price and would only listen to any offer which shows “its appreciation” for the striker in “a financial way”.
Liverpool have been heavily linked to the Gabon man, who has scored a total of 85 goals from 125 appearances for the German outfit.
The 28-year-old has a contract until 2020, but in January he admitted he was looking to move on this summer.
“We will listen to it when a club is willing to show its appreciation for Aubameyang in a financial way as well,” Watzke told Bild.
“If an official bid were to reach more than £63m, it would have to be reported as a necessary to proceed. This has not happened so far.”
Aubameyang had looked set for a summer move to PSG but despite making an official approach, the Ligue 1 side pulled out after PSG’s new sporting director Antero Henrique decided that the asking price was too high for a 28-year-old – leaving Liverpool free to break their transfer record again this summer.
The £35.6million arrival of Mohamed Salah has beaten the £35million they paid for Andy Carroll in 2011, but any move for Aubameyang will smash that.
French news outlet Le Parisien claimed last week that Liverpool’s hierarchy will pay as much as £61.3m (€70m) for the forward who hit 40 goals in 45 matches in all competitions last season.
Sky Sports reported last week that Man City were chasing Aubameyang after holding talks last summer when Guardiola was first appointed, but no agreement was reached and the player opted to stay with BVB for a further season.
