Undefeated Nigerian boxer Lateef ‘power’ Kayode has been confirmed as a challenger for the WBA cruiserweight title against Denis Lebedev.
Kayode (21-0-0, 16KOs) will slug it out with 36-year-old Russian Lebedev in a 12 round bout at the Basket-Hall Arena in Kazan on 4 November, according to the latter’s manager Vadim Kornilov via RingTV.
Lebedev (27-2, 20KOs) survived a fourth round knockdown, going on to overcome Congo Brazzaville’s Youri Kalenga in 12 rounds by unanimous decision to regain his WBA cruiserweight title in Moscow on 10 April.

That was his second victory since a brutal 11th-round knockout by Panama’s Guillermo Jones in May 2013.
Kayode, 32, dominated Nick ‘slick’ Kisner in a one-sided 10-round points decision in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, on 29 May. That fight followed his no-contest bout with Cuban Luis Ortiz on 11 September.
Also on the card at the Basket-Hall Arena is heavyweight contender- and mandatory challenger to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder- Alexander Povetkin. Russian Povetkin will fight Mariusz Wach in a 12 round bout.
