The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai Wednesday paid a visit to Gajigana, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State to assess troops location that was attacked by Boko Haram terrorists last Sunday.
A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said the Army Chief was received and conducted round troops’ deployment by the Commander 5 Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 243 Battalion.
The statement said Gen. Buratai, while fielding questions from journalists that accompanied him, stated that he was there to see things for himself, assess the situation and give necessary directives.
Col. Usman, however, said the Army Chief expressed dissatisfaction with the troops’ conduct during the attack and warned that such incident should not be allowed to repeat itself.
“He also warned troops to be more proactive and alive to their duties as everything is being done to support them”, the Army spokesman added.
According to the statement, the Chief of Army Staff stated that the recent wave of attacks by terrorists in Gulak, Adamawa State, and Gajigana should be seen as isolated cases that would not be allowed to happen again because adequate measures are being taken to deal decisively with any of such occurrences.
