A middle-aged man, Samsideen Akinwunmi, has taken his own life in Abeokuta after being duped by his concubine, reports have said.
Akinwunmi, a carpenter, was said to have been found dead after allegedly hanging himself on a ceiling fan in his room located at Aboaba Street, Itori-Odo, Abeokuta.
According to Vanguard which cited a source, the incident happened on Saturday. The source added that he saw Akinwunmi at about 2:45 pm on Saturday when he sent all his children on errand before killing himself.
According to the source, the deceased left a suicide note which explained why he killed himself.
“He indicated that his estranged lover had duped him of millions of Naira and that he had to kill himself.
A community leader and Alapinni of Egbaland, Chief Omolaso Ojedele, reacting to the incident said it was a tragedy.
It was learnt that the Police had taken the corpse away, although Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi could not be reached for confirmation on the incident.
