GOVERNORS under the aegis of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF Frirday condemned in very strong terms, the massacre of fifty- three students of Federal Government College, Bunu Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram, urging the Federal government to protect the lives of those still alive.

Moved by the incessant killings and destruction of property by members of Boko Haram unabated inspite of military presence in the areas, the governors however urged the Federal Government to comprehensively review the present strategies used in fighting terrorists as the present methods were no longer yielding the expected results, adding, ” However, we also believe the time has come for the Federal Government to comprehensively review the strategies with which it is fighting this insurgency. The current. approach is definitely not working and it is important that all of us are humble and sincere enough to accept this reality and then work out a stronger and more workable strategy.

In a statement by the Chairman, NGF and governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, the governors noted that this was a very difficult time for Nigeria and all must rise to support the families of the students who were slaughtered, adding that those aggrieved must realise that violence can never be a solution to the nation’s problems.
