Chelsea could thwart Liverpool’s attempts to sign full-back Ryan Bertrand this month due to the situation involving Victor Moses’ current loan deal with the Merseyside club.
.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues are less than impressed with Moses’ loan spell at Anfield – he has made 13 Premier League appearances with just one goal to his name – but relations between the Premier League rivals may now mean that Bertrand misses out on such a move.
.
24-year-old Bertrand, who has been with Chelsea since 2005, has never managed to establish himself as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge and was previously farmed out on loan to several Football League clubs including Reading and Nottingham Forest.
.
The England international, who has won two senior caps for the Three Lions under Roy Hodgson, did famously start in the Champions League final success against Bayern Munich in 2012 yet has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season under returning boss Jose Mourinho.
.
However, with Liverpool looking a little short on squad depth at present, Jose Enrique out injured and summer signing Aly Cissokho having failed to make much of an impression at Anfield, the Reds have been linked with a potential move for Bertrand – a player who could command a fee in the region of £8 million – this winter.
