During Mourinho’s first spell at the club, the Mail explains, it was Peter Kenyon who provided the link between him and the executives. In his second spell, it was Gourlay who had the job at first, but there is no longer anyone there.

Chairman Bruce Buck is not always around due to other duties while no other executive has as much of a hands-on role as either Gourlay or Kenyon did.
