Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for discussing the 2027 presidential election while many Nigerians are facing economic hardship and hunger.
Eze described Wike’s comments as “ridiculous and insensitive,” noting that many Nigerians have been reduced to the status of hunger-stricken refugees in their own land.
Wike, speaking at a Thanksgiving Service in honor of Senator Barinada Mpigi in Koroma, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, had boasted that no one can challenge him at the polls in Rivers State.

Eze questioned why Wike would focus on such a narrative when the current administration has led the country into a period of severe economic challenges.
In a statement made available to reporters, Eze criticized Wike’s confidence in the 2027 elections, stating, “With the confidence the FCT Minister spoke on how he intends to rig elections in 2027, it is either the former governor no longer operates from Nigeria or must be operating either from the Moon or the Sun not to observe the level of protests all over the country or the Collapse of our Naira or the failure of our economy and the attendant hunger ravaging Nigerians.”
Eze’s statement comes amidst growing concerns over the state of the economy and calls for leaders to prioritize addressing the current challenges facing Nigerians.
