Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae has left the country for the United Kingdom for medical treatment, five weeks after his kidnap and release by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Falae was abducted from his farm at Ilado village, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on his 77th birthday. He was later released after the family paid a ransom of 5 milliion naira to the kidnappers after he spent 72 hours in their den.
Four of the kidnappers have been arrested and charged to court by the Police.
According to Vanguard, the politician decided to seek for a thorough medical attention in London following the injuries and trauma he went through in the hands of his captors. He trekked for days in the bush after he was kidnapped and was made to sleep on the floor for three days.
Falae’s Personal Assistant, Captain Moshood Raji (rtd) confirmed that the former minister has traveled out of the country for medical check up.
According to him, the elder statesman “had not been able to have enough rest after the abduction saga.
“Chief Falae would used the opportunity of the vacation to do some other things which include medical treatment.
“Chief traveled to the United Kingdom on vacation and would also have his medical check up there, but he is expected to be back by the end of this month,” Raji said.
